The Albanian Media Institute and the Media Programme of Konrad Adenhauer Stiftung organized on February 18th the regional roundtable “ Guardians of the truth – the fact checkers” in Tirana. Representatives of fact-checking organizations from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova, Romania and Serbia participated in this roundtable, as well as well-known experts from Germany (ARD Tagesschau-Faktenfinder), Italy (Bellingcat) and EU-Brussels (StratCom).
During the roundtable, the role of fact-checkers in the era of Disinformation and Fake News was discussed, as well as experiences were exchanged among different organizations. Discussants focused on various topics, such as sustainable funding, tools for better fact-checking, or the importance of “truth-o-meters” for society.
